Words

Words, languages... Nationalism. They are deeply related between them. And you would need to add another one: coins. If you look closely to an ancient coin, any ancient coin you could find, you are going to be able to find lots of clues about the deep roots of the society that coined this piece. And in this little rounded piece of a huge whole world, or multiversal universe, you, if you own enough knowledge acquiered by a varied kind of ways, can understand that how languages and religion, attached to it, are able to turn this little metallic item into a weaponry of polítical nationalism.

Words

It is a natural fact, accepted by everybody, that we need not just gestures for communicating properly with our relatives, friends, or other members of the human society that are around us, interacting with us in a thousand ways each day of our life. We need words to talk to them, words to write or to read what they have been trying to tramsmit to us from the beginning of History. Love and hate letters in varied length, supports, shapes as well as typology throught our common historical development as societies.
Societies that developed a broad diversity of nations, empires or republics and then dissapeared in the mist of time. And the language played a vital role in showing to the whole world around who were the winners and the losers of the battle. They engraved it in documents, monumental buildings, roads, walls and coins. They turned all of them into a unavoidable way of displaying their polítical nationalism. We won, you loser, never forget It.. pay the taxes and shut up...
In 1885 Africa was seen as a place where any white conqueror could become a powerful empire, adding Asia to their african domains. And happened what was natural, attached to this idea of competitive behaviour: Europe became to quarrel between them over African territory, menacing each other with ferocity. Bismarck decided to become popular between the other european rulers of his time and met them in Berlin for trying to get a peaceful treaty to divide Africa between all the european nations... And get a part of this cake for the Kaiser, too, of course!
Obviously, it didn't work, as we know, and in 1887 a new language was born, the esperanto, a common language far from nationalism, and other dividal tendencies. A rebirth of the latín in order to reunite Europe far from the war that was seen in the Horizon...
